The St. Barnabas Benedictine Way is a longstanding gathering supporting those called to contemplative worship in that ancient tradition. We meet at the church promptly at 6:30 on the first three Monday evenings of each month. Naturally, all are welcome!
Gathered in the sanctuary and led by a Cantor, we pray Vespers, then move to table and share a simple silent meal with quiet music. Following supper a reading is discussed. Then, in keeping with Benedictine punctuality and after a closing prayer and Compline, we adjourn at 8:30.
Fellowship of quiet contemplation is the marvelous gift of Benedictine Way to our hectic world, echoing the monastic rejection of late Roman decadence by Benedict and the Desert Fathers who came before him. To slow the mind, truly hear the prayers, feel our voices singing in our bodies, and taste simple food in silence together is a wonderful counterpoint during the workweek.
